Discover who we are and our commitment to a sustainable future.

The Initiative for a Clean European Economy (ICEE) is a non-profit association dedicated to advancing the clean energy transition through knowledge, dialogue, and cooperation. Founded in Dubrovnik and active across Croatia, the European Union, and beyond, ICEE brings together academia, business, policymakers, and civil society to address one of the defining challenges of our time: building a sustainable and competitive European economy grounded in renewable energy and efficiency.

ICEE strives to support Europe’s transformation towards clean, safe, and affordable energy systems. We view the energy transition not only as a technical and economic necessity, but as a cultural and intellectual project that requires the participation of scientists, professionals, and citizens alike. By fostering debate, advancing research, and strengthening human and intellectual capital, we aim to prepare societies for a future where prosperity and sustainability go hand in hand.

At the heart of ICEE’s work are events designed to convene knowledge and inspire action. We organize conferences, symposia, round tables, hearings, and workshops, creating platforms where experts, institutions, and stakeholders exchange perspectives, confront challenges, and develop practical solutions. These events serve as catalysts for cooperation—linking national and international actors and generating ideas that translate into real-world progress.

Beyond convening dialogue, ICEE actively participates in research and policy development. We engage in scientific and applied projects, conduct analyses, and contribute to evidence-based policymaking in the fields of renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable economic reform. By bridging research with practice, we ensure that the clean transition is guided by knowledge, not just aspiration.

ICEE also invests in capacity building. We support the development of human and intellectual capital by fostering skills, competencies, and networks that empower individuals and institutions to lead in the clean economy. Through education, training, and collaboration, we strengthen the foundation upon which sustainable transformation must be built.

Our association is guided by independence, academic integrity, and openness. We uphold the principles of transparency and scientific rigor, ensuring that our work contributes meaningfully to public debate and policy reform. Whether through expert hearings, publications, or high-level symposia, ICEE positions itself as a meeting point between knowledge and decision-making.

As climate and energy challenges intensify, ICEE seeks to be a recognized forum for advancing ideas and solutions that shape Europe’s future. By bringing people together, strengthening intellectual resources, and translating research into action, we aim to build a cleaner, more resilient European economy—an economy capable of setting an example for the world.
